Tim Keady

Tim is a member of the HEART (Health Extension, Advocacy, Research, and Teaching) Initiative which is involved in many areas of evidence-based youth and adult programming. Tims focus includes universal family focused interventions, youth skill building, stigma and harm reduction, substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, education, and treatment, 4-H, strengthening community ties, reducing economic inequalities, homeless outreach, and resilience building. He provides evidence-based assessment, research, and education for the state of Utah, and specifically Cache, Box Elder, and Rich Counties. Tim’s position as a USU Extension faculty member allows him to address health areas of concern impacting individuals, communities, and the state of Utah. 

As a USU Extension faculty member, Tim uses his unique knowledge, skills, and abilities to help manage programs and increase the wellbeing of the population of all of Utah. His experience in promoting positive youth and adult behaviors, mental and physical health counseling, chronic disorders education and management (including substance misuse and suicide prevention), critical incident management and response, public health, EMS (Emergency Medical Services), bias and stigma awareness, liability and risk reduction, and Naloxone training and education. His broad experience allows him to be a resource for the Initiative, USU Extension, and the community. 

Examples of Funding for the grant programs Tim is working with include the following agencies, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Iowa State University, United States Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Utah State University Extension Grants Program, and the Bear River and Utah Department of Health, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), and the National Association of County and City Health Officials.
